Another big match of Asia Cup 2014 is ready to get underway as Sri Lanka and India meet on 28th of February 2014 at Fatullah. Both the teams have won their first encounters of the tournament and will now be looking to consolidate further. The match is scheduled to start at 14:00 local time and 8:00 GMT.
India will be looking to win yet another match convincingly courtesy their superb batting like they did against Bangladesh chasing down a huge 280 runs target making it look so easy. The way Kohli and Rahane played was the key to take them to a winning situation. Kohli expressed his class brilliantly scoring 136 with 2 big sixes and 16 boundaries to complement. He will have to play another anchoring innings against Sri Lanka who have a considerably furious bowling attack and they will surely play at their strengths. Someone from the top two will also have to come up with something big for India to post a challenging total.
The real concern for India, however, is their bowling which seemed to have failed yet another time against Bangladesh. Though Shami picked up 4 wickets against Bangladesh but he was too expensive as well. So, they will have to come into next match with proper planning.
Sri Lanka were splendid in the first match as well and managed to pick up a close victory courtesy a furious bowling spell from Lasith Malinga. Malinga picked up 5 for 52 and was the spearhead of Sri Lankan bowling and is expected to impress yet another time tomorrow. The real strength for Sri Lanka, however, is their batting. Kusal Perera has been impressive for quite some time and though he failed to make some real impact in the last match but still he can change the scenario of the game against India single handedly. Thirimanne and Sangakkara also looked in supreme knick scoring 102 and 67 in the last match respectively. If they continue to impress in the next match, Indian bowlers will have to face some real troubles. Another major player to name for Sri Lanka who can perform in the next match is their captain, Angelo Mathews. He has been amongst runs and wickets and can be vital for the Sri Lanka’s cause in the next match with his all-round performance.
