We witnessed an enthralling last ball finish the other day when India came so close of grabbing their first win of the series, are we going to see another similar situation once more. We would love to, though!

Though India are lagging behind when it comes to winning the series and the only thing left for them is to win the last two games and make sure that they do not lose the No.1 ranking in ODI teams. On the other hand, Kiwis will be looking to make sure that they don’t give away the advantage and give the visitors a wreck of their life time. But even though the first two games were close and India almost won the 3rd ODI, who knows the home side might have to bite the dust for the first time in this series in 4th ODI.

New Zealanders have rehearsed batting first really well after being put in to bat first by the Indian captain every time they have lost the toss. They would again want to bat first in 4th ODI at Hamilton. Though they have been accumulating huge totals since the first game but courtesy Guptill’s 111 runs innings in last game they managed to cross the 300-runs mark for the first time in this series. Williamson, Anderson and Taylor have also been amongst the runs so far in the series.

Anderson has been a real star for the hosts as contributed heavily both with the ball and the bat in all three games of the series. In fact it was his superb death bowling that saved the game for Kiwis at Auckland. He also got his first 5-wicket haul in the game and will be the go to man for his captain in rest of the series for sure as well. Besides him, Southee has also bowled really well picking up 6 wickets in first three games of the series.

It’s an interesting fact that MS Dhoni hasn’t elected to set a target even after winning the toss in all the three games so far. He has been doing so for almost a year and it seems that the Blue Men are comfortable in chasing down targets rather than defending them. It appears that Indian think tank is of the view that pressure of run-chase is easily bearable as it reflected from the vice-captain’s statement after 1st ODI.

But Indian batting hasn’t been firing in unison throughout this series. Their openers give away the initiative, especially as Rohit Sharma did it in last two games. Rahane hasn’t been amongst runs and even Raina is falling off his compulsive pulling. Dhoni and Kohli are getting runs but they can’t help it due to the inconsistency shown by rest of the batting line.

Even in last game it was Jadeja and Ashwin who took the game this close after India had lost half their team at just 146 runs at one time. Indians will really have to pull the reins and prove the theory of faltering outside home every time around. It’s a must win game for them if they want to at least square the series.

It’s going to be a good contest at Hamilton if the Indians don’t squander the initiatives and play to their full potential. There needs to be someone to back Dhonu and Kohli who have been amongst the runs so far in the series.
